Some caption, "I don't believe in God," or, "Spiritual matters just aren't important to me."
Or, maybe, "Spiritual stuff is too weird, so I will leave that to ministers or priests, or radical people who are into that sort of thing!"
An aside, that while our statement of beliefs are, indeed, our own whether pro or con for God, they don't shift or negate the reality of Him or His existence.
What about God? Is He missing out on a very important piece to the universe as a whole?
I believe that BOTH the individual and God are missing out.
Maybe some might say, "Oh, well, if God does exist, then there are plenty of people to worship Him or handle all of the 'God' stuff that's out there. They'll cover for me. I just want to live my life out and be content and happy."
Imagine this, out of ALL the expressions in the earth that are going on, even among the animal kingdom, I believe He longs for THE ONE missing piece. That missing piece is YOU.
You are more important than you know. Oh, yes, He hears your heart beating in the earth, your breath that only He could give. But, the one thing He longs for is your willful exchange of love, personal expression, communication and worship to Him as an only-you-can-do-it. I believe that with my whole being. Only YOU can bring the one missing piece. Only you can be you, do you, express you. There is no other you to take your place. You are it.
He longs for you with joyous anticipation. He has patiently been waiting for you.
Won't you begin to engage with Him now? Look for Him in your day to day affairs. Watch for His sprinkles of love, encouragements, cheer-leading and seeming "coincidences" in your day. Listen for Him through the sounds of nature and out of two or three people saying the same thing to you.
Watch for Him, then approach Him in breathing out a prayer from your lips.
The Bible says, "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." James 4:8
